I teach all drum lessons at long established and renowned drum school Orchard Percussion Studios, alongside owner and acclaimed drummer/educator Paul Francis. The studios have provided high quality drum lessons, with its own publication of lesson materials for over 30 years, and has hosted world renowned drummers; Dave Weckl, Benny Greb, Thomas Lang, and more.
The high standard of learning and successes of the studios give me a great base to deliver my skills and knowledge.
The Studio’s have everything needed for lessons, 2 drum kits, music playback facilities, AND seating for waiting in the room. Outside the teaching room there are toilet facilities. Parking is available onsite.
Please note: All vists and lessons at Orchard Percussion are by appointment only.
Lessons for all levels of drumming
The Beginner
Beginnings are important. like most journeys a good start goes a long way. From how to grip and use your drumsticks, learning the drum/cymbal names, showing you basic stickings and rhythms to playing your first drum beat. Most students achieve this very quickly into the lessons and from there we look to build a solid foundation expanding on these initial skills, making it much easier for students to build on as your ability develops.
The Intermediate
You may have been playing for a couple of years, and had some lessons, or self taught and now you would like advice on taking your playing to the next level. We’ll figure out what you know already, and the things you are not so sure on and develop it all. This could be hand or foot technique, coordination, learning new styles. You may also have your own goals you are looking to achieve from the lessons.
The Advanced
If you are an advanced player you have likely been playing many years with a confident ability in certain aspects of your drumming, usually with some experience in performing. At this stage in your playing its still so important to progress by developing new skills, but also making sure you are using your existing skills to their full creative potential. I will also analyse other aspects of your playing such as techniques and posture.
